Some time ago I did a video about split ends, how to avoid it and how it starts. Back then it was important to me to stress, that even I do not follow all those rules and I don’t want to loose the fun about long hair because of all the worries. So the toppic of our cooperation today really fits into that. I’m curious what sins the other girls are confessing.

So to begin, I can tell you I don’t do everything the right way and yes, I do have split ends. And I live with it. If there is time I do search and destroy to cut them out, otherwise I just accept it. I know if I would reduce my hair sins there would be less damadge (I tried it when it started growing my hair), but for what price. So, what am I doing? I am sleeping with my hair open most of the time which many people say is damaging the hair. For me it is just the easiest way. Beside that I’m using a blow dryer, one of the biggest problems.

Do not blowdry your hair

The first thing I tell everyone who asks me about hair care tips is to avoid heat. A blow dryer belongs to this category. And even if you only use it with cold air, there are better things you could do to your hair. But as you know my hair is rather thick. If I just let it dry there is an area at the middle of my head that does not dry for ages and then gets kind of greasy again. I can help to dry this part if I let my hair dry in layers, but then there is this problem with the upper part of my hair. So I support the drying with a blow dryer. But as cold as possible and far away from my head!

I know this leads to much dryer hair than it would usually be, but I try to compensat this with good care and less washing. Don’t use a blow dryer if you can. For me this is an option in summer, but if it’s cold outside I don’t like to freeze.

The second big point is how you wear your hair in your everyday life? Bun, braid or open? the best thing is definitely a bun. This way there is nor friction between the hair and clothes. From this point of view wearing it open is the worst case. But even a braid is worse than a bun. This is one thing I can tell you from my own experience. After I discovered Senza Limiti four or five years ago I wore a bun almost every day. But about one or one and a half years ago I started wearing braids more than buns. Just because my buns are heavy and sometimes it hurts, because I sometimes want to show my lenght and of course because there are so many beautiful braids. So I wear a different braid almost every day, as long as it doesn’t take longer then five to ten minutes to braid. Meanwhile I try to playe the hair tie on a different height every day as this is also stressing your hair.

And with this development I can say that there are mor split ends now in my hair then bacl in my bun time. Of course, a braid lies on your back, gets messed up over the day and all the tiny hair standing out are not protected.

On the picture you can see a hybrid braid, looks similar to an english braid, but is done with five strands. I just like to braid and I will not stop this for the protecting of my hair, because the hairstyles are the reason for my long hair!

With this I’m wishing you cooleness when it comes to your hair, relax and enjoy. Not to much of course, but you should have fun! Next month Flechtwerk will be showing you another reason for long hair, a beautiful hairstyle.

Ths pullthrough braud. I already showed you two variants, one on Heike and one on my hair, but there are many more!
